Jonas Wooden has said of printmaking, “You have to develop the print piece by piece. I just appreciate the way it appears, the procedure, the whole sense of it. It is irreplaceable.” In Wood’s hands and with the assist and experience of learn printmakers he operates with, there is something entirely alive in Wood’s prints. I believe of the 112-color Kitchen Inside (2022), a display screen print that took around 20 months to develop and demonstrates the most mundane of times, the domestic life of a kitchen, in just about surreal depth and layered attractiveness.
