Currently on perspective till January 7th, 2023 at Hashimoto Modern in New York Town is artist Megan Ellen MacDonald’s solo exhibition, “Wet Desire.”

Making use of 3D computer software and virtual actuality to create intricate scenes,
the artist reinterprets these compositions via conventional oil
painting tactics educated by historic even now daily life portray of the
Dutch Golden Period. Continuing the exploration of contrasting themes of objectification and electric power, MacDonald expands on how these themes relate to the femme practical experience via coded iconography.

For Damp Dream, the artist depicts distorted, opulent tableaus of normal things crammed with flowers, skulls and fruit, which allude to the commodification and seduction inside an elaborate interior world one that clumsily mimics factors of ours but maintains its possess unique aesthetic. Glossy, overly ripe fruits and flowers cling from sensitive stems, drooping heavily from the pounds. Shucked oysters tantalizingly get in touch with to the viewer, holding a shimmering pearl at it is center. MacDonald’s saturated palette is slick and whole of shades of pink, what is considered to be a ordinarily femme shade.

About the most up-to-date body of work, the artist states, “each operate serves as a memento mori and love letter to the complexities of character that we just take for granted. Whilst the get the job done explores female identity and the dichotomy of gender and ability, the narratives in the exhibition include references to the fragility and elegance of the pure entire world.”

Seductive however unnerving in their surreal nature, the artist paints scenes which allude to the effects of human intervention with character, and our inclination to swap real environment experiences with far more curated, commodified existences.
