“Penumbra” by Artist Ian Strange
A new series of significant-scale light installations and picture performs by artist Ian Unusual (previously showcased listed here). Incorporating true houses in Cincinnati, the light-weight functions ended up set up and photographed by Unusual and his collaborators above a interval of two months. The project uses spectacular, solitary-source lighting to illuminate and obscure the properties and neighbourhoods. The first perform, Ley Street, casts a monumental shadow of the home across the street. The second, Walnut Avenue, transforms the dwelling into a outstanding white silhouette of light, produced by meticulously wrapping the entire home in a mild-reflective content normally employed on road signs.
The title, “Penumbra,” refers to a partial or imperfect shadow outdoors its darkest issue a position in between full illumination and darkness. The two ultimate photographic will work are presented along with research and archival histories of each individual home and reflect on the imperfect act of seeing the histories of location and landscape. A thorough survey of Strange’s work is currently on show at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for the 2022 FotoFocus Biennial. Curated by Kevin Moore, “Ian Weird: Disturbed Home” operates until finally December 9, 2022. See additional photographs below!
