BACKLIT is delighted to existing The Pleasure of Destruction, an exhibition exploring disruptions of oppressive energy programs in gaming, entire world-setting up, and simulation. The exhibition showcases avant-garde and Queer artwork tactics and platforms work by local, nationwide, and international artists: Rebecca Allen, Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, Uma Breakdown, Wingshan Smith, Robert Yang.

The exhibition is a reflection of BACKLIT’s foundations as an LGBTQ+ and female-led arts organisation and continues to create upon the romance and determination to its communities as a protected space for vital discussions. The exhibition considers how the course of action of destruction can be a software for creation and developing new frameworks for the existence of ailment and openness. Digital simulation, explored in the exhibition, allows the artists to consider option universes, where oppressive rules and programs are place into concern.

The exhibition also asks us to take into consideration how protest and resistance is generally at the main of Queer and avant-garde innovative procedures.

BACKLIT gallery will be transformed into an immersive room loaded with large-scale projections, playable games, and holograms. The exhibition is accompanied by a collection of events, inviting visitors to find pleasure in destruction. This exhibition is supported by Arts Council England, Nottingham Trent University, Confetti and LEADD:NG. Curated by Matthew Chesney and Jazz Swali.
